This is a stunning and rare Pagoda Village Crassula capitella subsp. thyrsiflora. It comes rooted, established, and ready to plant. These beauties are part of the Crassulaceae family and, like many outstanding succulents, are native to South Africa. They have amazing pink to red rosettes that mature to become red and shaped like a magnificent pagoda. During the summer and fall, gorgeous white flowers will bloom. They prefer indirect sunlight but love to get about 6 hours of sun a day. These plants are easy to grow and are great for beginners. They are extremely drought tolerant and will need soil with excellent drainage. Containers with large drainage holes should be used as well as a well-draining cactus and succulent soil with 50% to 75% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite. They will only need water once a week in the hottest parts of summer and about once a month in the wintertime. The soil should be allowed to dry out fully between waterings. They enjoy a full sun environment and will need 6 or more hours every day. It is recommended to use ceramic pots with these succulents. Ceramic pots have a permeability that is ideal for succulents. Clay pots will lose water quickly and lead to dry plants. Plastic pots will retain water for too long because the permeability is poor. Make sure there is somewhere for the water to drain. They prefer a warm, growing environment, and the ideal temperature is 64-77°F. The minimum winter temperature is 41°F and will not survive a frost. It will grow well outdoors year round in USDA zones 9 and above. Indoor containers can be moved outside for the growing season but need to be acclimated gradually to prevent sunburn. They should be protected from excess rainfall and must be moved back indoors before any frost. Red Pagoda will grow well in average household humidity levels when grown indoors.
