This is an outstanding cold hardy Dwarf Cavendish Banana Tree starter. It has been rooted, established and comes ready to plant. The Dwarf Cavendish banana is a widely grown cultivar. The name "Dwarf Cavendish" is in reference to the height of the pseudostem, not the fruit. This is a very fast growing plant. Young plants have maroon or purple blotches on their leaves but quickly lose them as they mature. It is commonly planted in warmer climates. Temperate climates enable vigorous growth when this tree planted in the ground. They love full sun but will tolerate some shade. They like a well draining soil with a sandy loam and a slightly acidic pH level of 6.0 to 6.8. It grows to a mature height of up to 8 feet outdoors and has a solid heavy trunk. They can be easily grown in containers and do fantastic as a patio plant or an indoor house plant. These are very versitile trees. They will grow great outdoors in USDA zones 6-11 and are wonderful for container growing in other zones. Pick a few up for your garden today!
